Good idea and was almost there but you can only use it in your home? That seems like a waste because if I am at home I will be watching on a 55 inch HDTV and not a 10 inch iPad screen. Now if I am traveling I love using my iPad to watch TV. I work at DISH Network and DISH offers an app that allows you to do this. The app is called DISH Remote Access. You can use this app over 3g or wifi. Check out DISH.com/tveverywhere for more information.
